As a Games VFX Artist with SGI, you boast excellent technical and artistic skills, and a passion for mobile and PC games. You’re responsible for researching, creating, and implementing exceptional quality effects that enhance gameplay and overall visual presentation for our titles. As a passionate and self-starting professional, you take pride in raising the bar on quality and pushing your technical skills but in accordance with visual and technical targets of the project. You enjoy working with multiple disciplines and collaborating with team mates to make the best possible game.


In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with Lead Artist and Art Director to develop the look of VFX;
  • Work closely with other departments to facilitate FX support for gameplay;
  • Create and implement high fidelity and quality game-ready particle systems on par with best mobile and PC titles;
  • Optimize VFX to work within tech specifications and memory constraints;
  • Troubleshoot and take ownership of tasks to deliver against budget, time and quality;
  • Maintain proficiency in the use of in-house tools and art pipeline;
  • Keep up to date on game design and technical requirements relevant to tasks.


To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • 2-3 years of game development experience as a VFX artist specializing in real-time VFX;
  • Previous game titles shipped as a VFX artist;
  • Expert proficiency using 2D art creation/manipulation packages, including but not limited to Photoshop;
  • Expert proficiency using 3D modeling packages, including but not limited to 3D Studio Max;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong personal motivation for excellence and high level of professionalism;
  • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision, and to multi-task under pressure;
  • An enthusiasm for mobile games with a passion for the games industry.

 

It would also be helpful if you had:

  • 2-3 years of post-graduate traditional art training, Degree or BA in Fine or Graphic arts or equivalent professional experience;
  • Experience in developing for smartphones, tablets and PC;
  • Technical knowledge of scripting and shaders (i.e. XML, HLSL).
